Dealing with blog spam comments

This is a small test site – experimenting is the name of the game.

Some of my posts seem to garner SPAM-bots (I’m guessing that they are bots since the behaviors/content for the SPAM comment posts were so similar.) Most of my posts have NOT generated any SPAM comments so I was a bit surprised when they started to occur. The SPAM-bot behavior:

Well it’s been almost a month since I started this experiment and the components have behaved well until today…

– the system load went up considerably (reaching the max allowed for my service) and things went into ‘crawl mode’…

– I attempted to locate the ‘bad processes’ but I was not having much luck

– the system simply defended itself and crashed/rebooted 🙁 [[ on a revenue generating production system this

An “orphan work” is a photograph, illustration, or any other work that is protected by copyright but whose copyright owner cannot be identified or located.

Yes and sort of no…

Yes since the site is using blogging software.

Sort of No since it really is an experiment with this type of web publishing solution as well as an exploration of the system and software pieces needed for this type of presentation. While the lines are somewhat blurred my current needs are more along the lines of a CMS (content management solution) than a ‘blogging
